Sorry to be later than a DXer is supposed to be, but heart surgery got in the way. Please forgive for not thanking everyone sooner. SEDCO W4DXCC VII was a lot of fun and a good increase over SEDCO W4DXCC VI.
SEDCO W4DXCC VIII will be held September 28 and 29, 2012 at the MainStay Suites, Pigeon Forge, TN. Plan now as we already have some great surprises in the works. The program should be finished by Dayton and copies at the DX Dinner there and on our webpage.
Vendors will open up at 2 PM on Friday the 28th. They will not be selling during the weekend but will have their top representatives available to demonstrate equipment and answer questions. Susan Corpening is in charge of this part and believe me she knows the business! This year they will be located in our main lobby much closer to the action of the convention and registration. We will again have a SUPER program on Friday evening as we did this past September when our friend Dennis, K7BV, gave his presentation.
We learned from this event and plan to move forward with it. We will begin this special presentation at 8 PM following Dutch Treat dinner at Calhoun's which begins at 5:30 pm, earlier than we have done in the past. You will hear more about this as the year progresses, but a program like this has never been attempted, as far as we know, and you won’t want to miss it. We will have a ham's dream weekend at W4DXCC and the famous Ten-Tec Hamfest also.
The Saturday programs will begin at 11am (grab a bite prior), breaking at 6 pm for dinner which will be at 7pm. The food is incredible, and this year Dave, K4SV, will return as Emcee with our sincere thanks to Bob, K4UEE, for the duty last September. Bob will be very busy with others talking about THE DXPENDITION TO HK0/M.
As usual, the speakers come to give back, and they are the best of the best in DXing and Contesting. Free snacks and drinks are available all day, and raffle tickets for BIG prizes are available in the lobby to anyone with event tickets. The drawing will be after dinner Saturday evening, and all proceeds go to support DXing and Contesting. Our sincere thanks to ICOM and YAESU who donate exceptional equipment as prizes. We will again have prizes all during the programs, but the tickets are placed back into the pot for the larger prizes given away after dinner.
In case you are not familiar with SEDCO W4DXCC, the theme is FELLOWSHIP first and the word is getting out since we are still growing. Dave, K4SV, and Ted, W4NZ, are the DX and Contesting leaders during the convention.

Thanks again to all of you who come to make this, the only DX and Contesting convention in the Southeast the success that it is. Come and see your buddies and talk the talk we love... DX and Contesting.
Much more later, including the program and other details relative to reservations, etc. W4DXCC VIII reservation start July 1st to Rosie, KA4S at 865-681-2279 and a lot of folks have already called the MainStay (865-428-8350) for room reservation (say SEDCO for good rate). If possible do it sooner rather than later!
